FCVB & FCB Make Debut at the European Retina Congress, Drawing Global Ophthalmologists' Attention to New Technologies

During the joyous occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day celebrations, the 23rd Annual Congress of the European Retina Society (Euretina 2023) was grandly held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from October 5th to 8th. More than 5,000 ophthalmologists gathered there, seeking knowledge and exploring in the collision of ideas, and contributing to the pursuit of human vision. VESBER attended this grand event with its internationally innovative products, the Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body (FCVB) and the Foldable Capsular Buckle (FCB). The internationally original technologies attracted well-known overseas ophthalmologists to stop and discuss, and they jointly deliberated on new technologies for treating eye trauma and retinal detachment. The atmosphere at the exhibition booth was extremely lively.

The European Retina Congress is the world's largest and most influential ophthalmology congress. This is also the third time that VESBER has brought the FCVB to this grand event. With the global clinical application of the FCVB, experts specifically came to inquire about this original technology for saving the eyeball this year and had in-depth exchanges with Liang Jiahao and Le Jie, managers of VESBER's Academic International Department. The VESBER booth attracted more than 200 participants for interaction and viewing, jointly promoting the international promotion of the new FCVB technology.

In addition, VESBER also brought another innovative product, the Foldable Capsular Buckle (FCB), to the grand event. As soon as the FCB was unveiled, it attracted extensive attention and interest from doctors and distributors from around the world. Manager Liang introduced the design features of the FCB and deeply explained the FCB's 5 "no" innovative treatment for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment pioneered by Professor Dong Fangtian from Peking Union Medical College Hospital. This new treatment plan for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment attracted doctors, experts, and foreign distributors to come and consult.

FCVB

The FCVB (Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body) is the world's first internationally innovative product designed to simulate the natural vitreous body. It consists of a balloon, drainage tube, drainage valve, and fixation tabs. The balloon is meticulously designed through computer simulations of the human eye's vitreous cavity parameters, featuring a specialized flat crystalline surface. The raw material is a medical-grade silicone polymer approved by the U.S. FDA.

During surgery, the folded balloon is implanted into the vitreous cavity. Silicone oil is injected through the drainage valve, and the balloon's dual fixation tabs and drainage tube sutures securely anchor it within the eye, isolating the silicone oil from the ciliary body to prevent damage.

This device preserves the posterior chamber space, allowing gradual functional recovery of the ciliary body to regulate intraocular pressure. It also prevents silicone oil emulsification and displacement while providing comprehensive retinal support and maintaining ocular morphology.

FCB

The FCB is implanted on the corresponding scleral surface through a conjunctival incision of approximately 4mm. Normal saline is injected through the drainage valve and the drainage tube. After injecting normal saline, the balloon can support and press the sclera and the retina, and a laser is used to seal the tear, treating rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.

The 5 "no" external approach to retinal detachment surgery represents a new realm - no suturing, no fluid release, no freezing, no pulling of extraocular muscles, and no retrobulbar anesthesia.

During the four-day conference, many international doctors, experts, and distributors from various countries showed great interest in the FCVB and FCB products. They纷纷 expressed their desire to establish long-term cooperative relationships with VESBER, hoping to introduce these globally innovative ophthalmic products to their home countries, so that patients with eye diseases in their countries can have the opportunity to benefit from cutting-edge scientific and technological new technologies from China!

The European Retina Society (EURETINA) was established in 2000 with the aim of promoting knowledge sharing among vitreoretinal and macular experts in Europe. It is an annual ophthalmology congress in Europe and also the world's largest retina congress. In the beautiful present after the pandemic, ophthalmologists from around the world gathered offline to discuss current hot topics in the field of vitreoretina, exchange, and showcase the latest clinical and scientific research results, bringing a thrilling academic feast.

Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital Performs FCVB Surgery to Preserve Ocular Integrity for Ocular Trauma Patients

As a pioneer in FCVB surgery since 2021, Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital has performed this procedure for nearly 20 patients suffering from ocular trauma and silicone oil dependency to safeguard their ocular health with professional expertise. It represents the inheritance and upgrading of the hospital’s diagnostic and treatment technologies, as well as its commitment to delivering high-quality, precise medical services for patients with complex eye diseases.
