Vesber Showed FCVB and FCB at Beijing Ophthalmology Congress

On August 11, 2023, the 2023 Beijing Health Conference & 29th China International Medical Equipment Exhibition (China-Hospeq 2023) hosted by the National Health Commission's Center for International Exchange and Cooperation opened at the Beijing National Convention Center.

To advance ophthalmic innovation and enhance clinical care for China and Belt and Road countries, the 2023 Beijing Ophthalmology Congress co-organized by the National Health Commission and Chinese Microcirculation Society's Ocular Microcirculation Committee convened on August 12. Delegations from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Chinese ophthalmology leaders attended.

VESBER, a leading developer of ophthalmic medical devices, showcased its internationally patented technologies: Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body (FCVB)Foldable Capsular Buckle (FCB), and Silicone Scleral Buckle (SSB). These innovations sparked intense discussions among experts.

On August 11, Prof. Dong Fangtian from Peking Union Medical College Hospital presented VESBER's breakthroughs to visiting dignitaries including Ms. Cui Li, Vice Chairperson of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Good-Neighborliness Committee:

  • FCVB: The world's first artificial vitreous substitute using computational modeling to preserve eyeballs integrity for severe trauma and silicone oil-dependent patients. Over 4,000 lives restored since 2017.
  • FCB: Prof. Dong's revolutionary 5-NO technique for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment:
    ▶ No sutures
    ▶ No fluid drainage
    ▶ No cryotherapy
    ▶ No extraocular muscle manipulation
    ▶ No retrobulbar anesthesia

On August 12, Prof. Dong led a practical training session focusing on FCB application:

  • FCB Advantages:
    ✓ Minimally invasive procedure
✓ Reduced operative time (average 20-25 minutes)
    ✓ Repeatable intervention capability
✓ 92% success rate in clinical trials

Surgical Protocol:

  1. Subconjunctival anesthesia administration
  2. Limbal or posterior limbus conjunctival incision (3-5mm)
  3. Tenon's capsule dissection to expose sclera
  4. FCB implantation via sub-Tenon's space
  5. Sequential anterior chamber paracentesis with saline inflation
  6. Conjunctival closure with absorbable sutures

Prof. Dong emphasized: "While FCB represents a paradigm shift in retinal detachment surgery, long-term data collection and device optimization remain critical."

Participants universally lauded the technique's simplicity and expressed interest in adopting it.
