Ophthalmology Department of Dunhua Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Takes the Lead in Performing Highly Difficult Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body (FCVB) Implantation
Release time: Jan 13,2026

It is understood that this technology is applicable to patients with early primary retinal detachment. Compared with traditional surgery, patients do not need to maintain a prone position for several months after surgery, and can also avoid subsequent secondary silicone oil removal surgery, which greatly reduces the physical and mental suffering of patients. At present, only two Grade A tertiary hospitals in our province can carry out this technology. The successful and pioneering implementation of this technology by Dunhua Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital is inseparable from solid guarantees in multiple aspects: on the one hand, relying on the technical support of Director Cui from the medical consortium, it has effectively overcome the key difficulties in the surgery; on the other hand, the ophthalmology team of the hospital has solid technology and rich experience, and can efficiently complete the whole process from preoperative evaluation, postoperative diagnosis and treatment to emergency disposal. At the same time, the complete equipment system has laid a solid hardware foundation for the development of the technology. In addition, the long-accumulated good reputation of the department, the deep trust of patients, and the consistent adherence to the original aspiration of medical practitioners have jointly gathered into a strong driving force for promoting technological breakthroughs and sustainable development.

Compared to conventional surgery, FCB implantation offers significant advantages. The procedure requires only a 4mm conjunctival incision, causes minimal tissue damage, and results in less postoperative pain and faster recovery.

3D Reconstruction of FCB Successfully Published in Clinical Ophthalmology
This research not only shortens the learning curve and lowers the technical threshold of FCB surgery, but also lays a solid foundation for its standardized promotion in primary hospitals and among special populations (such as children, pregnant women, and highly myopic patients), truly realizing a minimally invasive, precise and reproducible clinical pathway.
