Foldable Capsular Buckle,FCB
FCB is implanted through a conjunctival incision of about 4mm onto the corresponding episcleral, with saline injected via the drain valve and drain tube. After the injection of saline, the capsule can form an indentation to support the sclera and retina, allowing for the closure of retinal tears with laser treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.

🌍 FCB: Innovations in Retinal Detachment
🩺 Retinal Detachment Treatment Options
When the retina tears or detaches, immediate surgical intervention is critical to prevent permanent vision loss.
🔧 Two Surgical Approaches
1. Extraocular Repair
e.g., Scleral Buckling / FCB Implant
2. Intraocular Repair
e.g., Vitrectomy
🔬 Vitrectomy (Intraocular Surgery)
- 💥 Lens clouding (cataracts)
- 💥 Optic nerve damage
If silicone oil is used:
- 💥 Face-down recovery for 1–3 months
- 💥 Second surgery needed to remove oil
- 💥 Risk of emulsification
🧊 Traditional Scleral Buckling (Extraocular)
- 💥 Requires retrobulbar anesthesia
- 💥 Eye muscle manipulation
- 💥 Freezing therapy to seal tear
- 💥 Larger incision
- 💥 Rare: oculocardiac reflex
🌟 FCB Implant Surgery
How it works: Folded FCB is placed episclerally → Inflated with saline → Pushes retina back → Laser seals tear
5 Key Advantages:
- No eye-numbing injections
- No muscle pulling
- No fluid drainage
- No tear localizing in surgery
- No freezing
Surgery time: 50 → ~10 minutes
Ideal for:
- 👍 Children & young adults
- 👍 Pregnant women
- 👍 High myopia
- 👍 Lower/nasal retinal tears
- 👍 Horseshoe-shaped tears

FCB Surgical Procedure
1. Make a minimally invasive incision on the bulbar conjunctiva and separate facial sheath and sclera to form a tunnel.
2. Implant the evacuated and folded FCB along the pre-fabricated tunnel, with the lens surface facing up.
3. Inject approximately 1ml of saline through the drain valve.
4. Perform anterior chamber puncture to release fluid.
5. Bury the drain valve entirely under the facial sheath.
6. Suture the conjunctival incision.

Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body, FCVB
The product is made of US FDA approved polymer material and comprises a vitreous-like capsule, drain tube and drain valve. FCVB can accurately simulate the structure of the vitreous body of human eye. By injecting medium (silicone oil) through the drain valve, FCVB can restore the function of the vitreous body to support the retina and the eyeball, which is used to treat severe ocular trauma and silicone oil-dependent eyes.

After the injection of saline, the capsule can form an indentation to support the sclera and retina, allowing for the closure of retinal tears with laser treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.
It is made of medical-grade bio-compatible silicone polymer (FDA-approved material). And its major functions are encircling and buckling,it is used for encircling scleral buckling procedure.
